We always got along well, like old friends, not just as family.
Mark Charles (Cousin)
It is with a great sense of both sadness and pride filled emotion that I share memories of my cousin, Sandi Kelly.
For as long as I can, remember, we always got along well, like old friends, not just as family.
We were connected through great conversations and humor, never at a loss for a subject or issue to discuss.
With countless qualities to be admired, Sandi was without a doubt, a devoted wife, proud mother, joyful grandmother, and was a very loyal and dedicated daughter.
Sandi always demonstrated caring thoughtfulness and was welcoming to all.
Being neutral and diplomatic as “moderator” for the anticipated debates between our mothers (pie crust being the topic of choice most times), she made sure everyone’s opinion was heard, and everyone felt respected.
As a youngster, I remember looking forward to playing Barbies with Sandi, and wondering why I couldn’t have one of my own.
There is one shopping expedition that stands out in memory when we went with our moms and aunt to Buffalo. All of the women, Sandi included, purchased wigs, and wore them home in the car across the border to avoid paying duty. What a sight!
A person with phenomenal patience, Sandi taught me how to drive standard shift in her silver Mustang. A skill which has served me well over the years.
Consistent with values and actions, truly a person of integrity, who never forgot the little things that meant so much to others. Many times my favourite meal or dessert would magically appear at one of the family gatherings.
Family, friends, food, and fun were central components in Sandy’s life. There was never a doubt that you would partways with a laugh, a hug, and a smile on your face.
Goodbyes are never easy, this one is tremendously difficult. Love you to the moon and back, forever.
Your cousin, Mark aka Marka
